We inherit DNA from our parents – but it only part of equation. Epigenetics is alteration in gene expression rather then the genetic code that affects genetics. DNA methylation, histone modification and non-coding RNA (ncRNA) are natural epigenetic changes impacted by age, the environment, lifestyle and diseases. Everything we do, eat or smoke can affect our gene expression. Our research aims to discover the role of epigenetics in disease.
